Reality of Corn - 1969

Live performance and video projection of Reality of Corn,
New York City 4/28/08. David Schmidlapp's
collaboration with composer Yoni Niv.
The projection is part of Schmidlapp's 16mm optically printed
film,  POST-8MM HIPPIES, made from his early 8mm
works when he was a teenager in the late 60's in the mid west.
Included are images of an earthrun during a moonwalk.
Live performance by the duo, Due East:
Erin Lesser (flute) and Gregory Beyer (percussions).

The original Downtown 81. Sometime around early 1979 Walter Steding said to David Schmidlapp, " Let's make a movie"- "About what? "- " A new kid in town ,who checks out the scene and never sees any day light."- " And who's also looking for a girl?" Later in the year David befriended a ten year old wayward, Andre Sykes and he became the lead in this underground NYC film. This is the Mudd Club scene with Walter Steding,Tricia Gruen, Lenny Ferrai, Claudia Summers, Barbara Edon, Edo, Lisa Depe, and Glen O'Brien-- " a dream of a love story" - "a love of a dream"

the hardly learned 90's

Title Song with it's advertising prelude of David Schmidlapp's award winning experimental film, Big Time Operator. 1999. A film of chemistry and time; a disjunctive narrative of aging and corruption. Starring his actor - father, F.L. Schmidlapp. (Black Maria Jury's Citation, Big Muddy Festival Best Narrative, Williamsburg Film Festival's Audience Best Experimental.) The film was screened at Slam Dance Festival and broadcast twice on Reel New York, channel13 WNET.
